Facebook Advertising against Pay per Click Advertising: Better or Bitter Contest?

Pay per Click Advertising for a long time was considered the best and most rewarding way of online advertising. But with Facebook joining the fray as a medium to be advertised on, Google has been facing serious competition over the last few years. With around 1/6th of the total population of this world estimated to be having genuine as well as fake accounts on Facebook, the social network has stonewalled paid advertising big time. Facebook advertising or Facebook marketing, has grown into such a big promotional colossus offering such depth that it is unimaginable for any business to even ponder surviving without having shown itself on the social network.

Search engine marketing companies swear by Pay per Click Advertising whereas as Facebook Advertising or Facebook Marketing is the perennial favorite of every Social Media Marketing Company in India. Facebook Advertising is not as expensive as Pay per Click Advertising. Search engine marketing, of which PPC Services are a part, still rules the roost when it comes to charging big.

Google has the AdWords and the AdSense. AdWords has keywords being bid on by advertisers which are further shown on the right hand side of the page when a word gets entered on Google. On the other hand, AdSense facilitates an advert onto the Display Network. Since this happens to be search based, the ad again shows when a keyword is entered on Google.

Facebook Marketing is different. The data available on an individual is vast. The Social Media Marketing Company in India handling the campaign places the advert in front of the audience based on their interests, activities, movies and TV programs which they mention in their personal profiles. Unlike in search engine marketing, advertising on FB allows the advertiser enough space to put in more characters. There is also space for visuals.

Google Advertising is expensive and with Google recently announcing that it would only be signing up clients with a huge wallet to empty on their paid search advertising campaigns, small timers will have no option but to advertise on the social network.

Google cries foul that Facebook is eating up on its advertising share. But Google has only itself to blame. With its enormous pricing structure, it is hard for those with a shoe string budget to ponder advertising on the search engine. They would rather fancy their chances on the social network with 1/6th of Earth’s populace on it.
