Optechnics UnlimitedEyes are important because they provide us vision. The process begins when light enters our eyes through retina. Sometimes due to old age or other medical condition comes up and we have to go for surgeries. In the eye surgeries PVA sponges are widely used because of their importance in providing assistance.

Eyes are delicate part of our body. We need to take special care for our eyes .But no one can run from old age and it comes with diseases like cataract. Cataract is a condition in which the lens of the eye becomes progressively opaque, resulting in blurred vision. A cataract is a painless, cloudy area in the lens of the eye. The lens is located behind the iris and is normally clear. Because cataracts block the light, this causes vision problems. To get it corrected one need to go for surgery. Post surgery PVA sponges are used for the management of fluids during ophthalmic procedures. These sponges are also used for many refractive surgeries. There are many kinds of refractive errors such as-

Myopia- (nearsightedness) is a condition where objects up close appear clearly, while objects far away appear blurry.

Hyperopia-(farsightedness) is a common type of refractive error where distant objects may be seen more clearly than objects that are near. However, people experience hyperopia differently.

Astigmatism is a condition in which the eye does not focus light evenly onto the retina, the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye.

These are some of the refractive conditions where surgeries are opted. And in most of the surgeries Ophthalmic surgeons use sponges.PVA sponges are widely used to absorb fluid from the site of surgery. They are 100% fiber and particle free. These disposable & sterile eye sponges are best suitable for blood absorption also during incision. These eye sponges are constructed of a dense PVA sponge and employed for a proprietary cleaning process that removes microscopic debris and particles. The surgeon finds it useful because it is stiffer tool which is used to push. It also helps to enhance the tactile feel while remaining non-abrasive to delicate tissue.
