Surrounded entirely by Michigan's third largest city (Warren), the small
city of Center Line is found in Macomb County. Originally settled in
1837, Center Line was incorporated as a village in 1925 and then as a
city in 1936. Known as Kunrod's Corner around the mid-nineteenth
century, it is believed that the name Center Line was given due to its
location in the middle of three trails from Detroit to trading posts up
north. The "center line" was the trail that lead to Utica from Detroit.
