Codeine tablets are pain relief medications and classified in the opiate drug class. This opium-derived medication is approved for treating mild to moderately severe pain and its effects can be greater when combined with any paracetamol tablets. Codeine tablets are quite effective in the treatment of a cough and diarrhoea as well.  The properties of codeine are often compared with morphine and it has a mild chance of drug abuse, if not taken under the recommended guidelines.
