How many customers has your website brought in for your business? I won't try to guess, I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, but the usual answer I get is none. It's OK to admit that. Most people think, build a site they will come. Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way.
Most website that small business owners have never make it to the first page of Google, so they are rarely ever seen. Another question I like to ask is, "where do you think your visotrs are coming from?". Most of the answers I get are Google. Then I have to break the bad news to them and tell them that their site isn't even in Google.
Now, I am not trying to make anyone feel bad. The average business owner just doesn't know. There is a lot of work that goes into a website with a first page ranking. Really in takes more than just a 1st page Google ranking. The site has to look good, no customer will stay on an ugly website. Your website represents your business. If your site looks crappy, what do you think they will think about your business?
