I have a Dream
I like to keep the things simple. Because I learned we lose too much
sometimes by troubeling about - what could happen if that happens and if
not what else could happen if it doesnt happen as we await it to happen
- and so on. You know what I mean?
I have a dream. Since about 35 years I follow up everything I can learn
about the environment.
I was born 1955 and mainly in Germany in the 60s and 70s - when I
finished school and startet university - the word "green" became a new
meaning. You remember? Before it was just a color .
"Environment Protection" and "Alternative Energy" poped up as new
slogans. In the 1970s, environmentalists and peace activists were
politically organized as thousands of action groups. To form a
parliamentary arm to this movement some founded The Greens (German: Die
Gr?nen). Opposition to pollution, use of nuclear power, NATO military
action, and certain aspects of life in a highly industrialized society
were principal campaign issues.
In the 80s and 90s (and of course even today) other political parties
one by one adopted the subjects "Environment Protection" and
"Alternative Energy" - mainly not to lose too much votes.
During all these years I very often asked myself ? what the hell are
they doing there? Beside discussing what could happen if that happens
and if not what else could happen if it doesnt happen as we await it to
happen? Some half-hearted laws, some government aids (which they of
course directly add to your electric bill as special charge)? Some
environment protection laws, often to compensate the damage of
environment caused by usage of fossil energy sources?
Lets keep it simple, already in the 80s I learned, that we have no
energy problem at all. The total solar energy absorbed by Earth's
atmosphere, oceans and land masses is approximately 3,850,000 exajoules
(EJ) per year. In 2002, this was more energy in one hour than the world
