The Blog Exchange: How It Works and Where It Happens

General Description:

This group is based on the following concept:If you're a blogger, then let's blogroll! In other words, if you blogroll me, then I'll blogroll you! That's The Blog Exchange!

ALL group members are encouraged to participate with each other and with me in The Blog Exchange, because this one little action can increase your blog's search engine rankings like nothing else that I know of. In fact, it's one of the most common ways professional bloggers get their blogs ranked so high in the search engines.

It does this quite simply by creating "organic reciprocal links", which is a really good thing for blogs in particular, and for several reasons.

For one, the more "reciprocal" blogroll links you have the more appetizing your blog is to ALL the search engine Web bots, crawlers, spiders, etc...

And since blogs can also ping the blog search engines like Technorati, informing them of things like new blogroll links, comments, posts, etc., it can increase your blog's popularity there too! If you're not pinging, then you're not really blogging. Not like the pros anyway. So start pinging today!

Not to mention that "organic reciprocal linking" between blogs is one of the best Google approved White Hat SEO tactics one can use to get higher Page Ranking in Google too!

Sooo.... Let's Blogroll and Do The Blog Exchange Baby!!

Here's How It Works and Where It Happens:

Step 1: List Your Blog on The Blog Exchange

In order to keep this simple for everybody at all levels of Internet experience, I want to follow this format for listing your blog on The Blog Exchange:

1) The name of your blog

2) URL or website address of your blog

I'll go first here, so you can see how it should look...

Step 2: The Blogroll on The Blog Exchange

Using the information in Step 1, simply visit the other member's blog, and then add it to your blogroll links when you're done. I'm assuming that if you are a blogger, then you know how to do this already. But if you don't, then keep reading for some basic instructions...

Now this varies among blogging sites / software, but the general process is the same with all of them.

1) Login to your blog's admin area, where there will be a link or button to an option for doing this. Most likely it will even say something like "Blogroll". Enter that area by clicking on that link or button.

2) Once there you should see another link or button that says "Add a Link". Click on that and follow the instructions for your particular blog software.

3) Just make sure to mark it "visible", otherwise it's not a "reciprocal" link and defeats the purpose. Plus, The Blog Exchange would not be complete.

Step 3: Completing The Blog Exchange

Once you have added the other member's blog URL to your blogroll, then come back here and post a comment (or start a new subject / discussion if you like) with the relevant information to let them know. This will also let prospective members know that The Blog Exchange works.
And I would suggest sending them a personal message via APSense too, just to be courteous. Here again, I'm going to assume that all members will be on each others contact / friend list, since this is a social network based on that concept!

For example, if you are blogrolling me, then once you complete all the steps above, you would simply come back here and post it to The Blog Exchange... It's really that simple, but if you have any questions, don't hesitate to either contact me directly via APSense email (of course, you'll have to add me to your contacts if I'm not there already... I will accept), or simply post your question in the subject discussion entitled The Blog Exchange: Questions, Answers & Comments. Whereupon I will complete The Blog Exchange by adding your blog to my blogroll then posting it here and sending you a personal message letting you know, along with a comment here as well. That's it... The Blog Exchange Is Done!

By the way, I'm on my computer a lot, so it shouldn't take long for me to know.

Final Thoughts:

In addition to the "organic reciprocal link building" that takes place in The Blog Exchange itself, there is also the increased traffic to members' blogs by completing the process, which is always a good thing for any website in general.

Not to mention that it affords the opportunity to leave appropriate / relevant comments on the posts while there, which creates yet another reciprocal link on most blogs. But don't abuse this by SPAMMING... That's NOT cool!

And if you're pinging, then it gets the word out that your blog has new content. And in the world of SEO, FRESH CONTENT IS KING! This is another White Hat SEO trick used by the pros.

Well, I think that should cover all the bases. If you have any questions, then you have a couple of options (as mentioned above, but let me reiterate for clarity):

1) Post it here (i.e., in the group subject / discussion entitled The Blog Exchange: Questions, Answers & Comments) and it will be answered either by me or by other members / moderators.

2) Add me to your contacts, if you haven't done so already, and send your question to me personally. And I will answer it ASAP!

Thanks for visiting today and welcome to The Blog Exchange!

Michael Brock
