What is Network Marketing?

What do you think Network Marketing is?

Is Network Marketing the act of spamming others in their emails whether you know them or not? Is it advertising your opportunity as a pop up so a person going to one page just has to see yours whether they want to or not. Is it harrassing every friend and family member to just "Take a look at my business"? Or what about joining various social sites and adding thousands of friends just so they can take a look at your business oportunity? Constantly sending them messages about your opportunities until they end up ignoring or deleting you. Constantly on a recruiting mission.

Raise your hand if you have ever done one of these things in the name of Network Marketing. Come on be honest. I am raising my hand too.

Do these tactics even work?

More times than not they don't. What do you usually do if you get spam. That's right you delete it. No one likes a spammer. Why do you think they have spam detectors on email? To weed out the spam mail of course. If one horrible piece of spam does happen to get through you just press the spam button and that trains the email system to work even better to block out spam.

What about pop ups? Ever heard of a pop up blocker? And don't let a pop up accidentally get through, as soon as I see one of those irritating wastes of my precious time I automatically click it off. I don't even check to see what it is. I am sure I am not the only person that does this. They are annoying. Will annoying people bring you business partners...I think not.

When you decide to bring a friend or family member into a business opportunity it had better be good. Well researched an tested. There is not better way to make an enemy than to lure someone trusting you into a bad business opportunity. If the program is not all YOU said it would be or pay like YOU it would pay. What if they were swindled and lost all their money? Who do you think they will be looking at in a bad way and not trust the next time opportunity comes knocking. That's right...YOU!

On social sites there is nothing I love more than a "network marketer" spamming me in my message box. Three fourths of the time they aren't even on my friend list. I have even had a guy tell me I was going to join his opportunity and make money even though I pleasantly declined. Can you say Jedi Mind Trip..that must have been what he was on. No one likes a pushy arrogant wannabe Network Marketer. So what did I do with that opportunity? I deleted it...filed it in the virtual trash can.

Lets discuss advertising on someones comment page where you should be saying hello, have a nice day, you're a great friend, have a nice weekend or even a html picture comment...you get my point. It's annoying and rude and most people delete it. So why waste your time on something that won't be seen anyway?

Network Marketing is not the act of taking a virtual bullhorn and blasting everyone you can reach with your opportunity.

So now that we have learned what Network Marketing isn't, lets find out what it is.

It is about people learning from , helping and getting to know each other. Should you really approach someone about business and you don't even know their name? It is about building trust and bonding with people giving something for nothing...your time. Network Marketing is about real people. It's about helping them fulfill their business dreams whether they join your opportunity or not. How can you do that without getting to know them. There is only one you. Share yourself with them, promote yourself..they can't get you anywhere else. Right?

Don't help someone with an alterior motive in mind. Keep in mind that your dream may not be theirs. Teach them how to properly network, if you know how. This works out way better than the above alternatives. You want people to ask to join your business not the other way around. You want them to join because they really want to be successful like you want to be successful. Not because you got them with all the hype you were feeding them. You want people with a similar mindset joining your business opportunity. NOT JUST ANYONE YOU CAN TALK INTO JOINING!

Trust me, you don't want just anyone joining your business. It will never work! You may get referrals but more likely than not they will be lazy, untrained and waiting for you to do it all. You want to be selective and choose like minded caring people who will in turn do the same which will build a better business for YOU if they do decide that they would like to know what you do for a living and they like what they hear. You can achieve that if you let them come to you. You will know that they are properly trained and have the right mindset for doing the same. You can't duplicate if you don't know how and what is the point of duplicating if it isn't working anyway. If your business is truly a good opportunity then taking the time to Network the right way will eventually cause it to thrive.
