W3 markup Validation

 WebMaster Talk
Site validation is an important tool to make your site compatible with the different browsers or different versions of the same browser.

What is markup validation?

Markup validation is a tool that checks your web page syntax and defines the grammatical problems. Web pages/documents  in general are written in a computer languages such as (X)HTML  which come under some rules just like other languages in the everyday life.

So markup validation checks your site for errors due to your web page document. The most used doc type is the Transitional (X)HTML (used as default in Dreamweaver).
Then depending of the rules of this doc type the Validator checks your web page and displays errors and their nature.

If you have a website and want to check any web page of it for markup validation check below:

Validate Your site

It is free and does not need paying.

Why is markup validation important?

Browsers are built in a way that display the web pages apart from having errors or built in a non HTML legal way. So different browsers, different version of browsers will display your page in different ways depending on your errors.
The markup validation helps you validate your web pages due to legal HTML rules compatible with all kind of browsers and avoid such problems.

Having a validated page makes your website Search Engine friendly and influences SEO, though acting indirectly. Having a validated site will make your visitors stay longer or give back links to your web pages though influencing  your rankings.

Hi Indrit,
Open Firefox and go to Tools - Ad-Ons and in the popp up, click the Get Extensions. Search for Web Developer and Total Validator they both have some great tools for W3C and CSS validation.

Hello Indrit,
I use a Firefox Plugin for my Validation. It is free to download and install and comes with some very handy tools for webmasters (Even the weekender type that are building their first website using templates!) The Plugin\add-on is called Web Developer and they recently released version 1.1.5
