Why is it that when people read your Blog or Group post here at Apsense and like it they just DON"T TOPS it? I see people leaveing comments but don't TOPS it as well.


What am I missing here?

Could it be that the people reading your blogs / posts do not feel they are worth a top? I also have many posts that I think are good and worth topping but looking at the number of readers compared to the number of tops. The results tell me that the readerd did not agree with my personal feelings.

Bj, You might be right to a certain point, but why leave a good comment if that's the case?

The appearance of a members image on your post might not be an accurate indication of whether he or she has read the post or not... Some people have visited my posts and then returned later, sometimes DAYS later to read them, and then top them, if they wished to do so... Your readers might be interested in your opening headlines, but might not have the time to actually read the body of your posts...

I think most people here on Apsense don't know what the TOP is for.

Creating a more complete personal profile also helps people to know you better... And their responses might become more complete... But that's just my feeling anyway.

If the members dont know what the top is for then maybe they should try reading the FAQ's. Something most people dont do as they are only interested in making their posts, and cant be bothered to take the time to learn about the site. This applies to almost all web sites not just APSense. There are also a number of posts all over the place discussing this very subject.

Jeff raises a very good point as well. Why should anyone take any notice of someone that has no profile filled in? I know I sent you a link that lists a number of articles that tell you how to set things up in APSense to help you get noticed. Looks like you have not followed any of them.

No I am Not over looking the topic. One of the reasons people will TOP someones post is because the poster has filled in a good profile and made the effort to establish themselves. Its all part of the equasion.

Hi there, You both are right! The way to go is indeed to TOP a post that we found interesting. But to my eyes, Freedom4U2 is closer from the true, because, i recognize that i do not think to top each time i read a good subject. It is not a bad thing to say/write it down here again, (for new members and for those who, just like me are not remembering to do it ... and those who don't not...). It is a good discussion and let me let you know that i have just TOP IT! Ah! Ah! Ah! Let's keep connected, Bye.

A top and a comment are really not a requirement. Everyone is free to top or not comment or not or do both. Also a top can only be given once. Sometimes it is something in the comments which may spark a top. You may have a good post but the reader doesn't get it till someone else comes along and makes a comment, at that point it clicks.
