Using RSS Feeds and Social Bookmarking

Posted Date: 2008-04-27 05:13, Pageview: 183
RSS feed technology has been around for several years and has quietly grown in popularity as people start to get past the learning curve required to learn how to use it properly. I remember when Yahoo and MSN first used it in their home pages. I was experimenting one day, just playing around and found that I could move things around and add things to my MSN home page just by copying a url and pasting it in a blank. I didn't realize what it was at the time, but I was actually feeding my home page with rss feeds from news reports, joke sites, and other places remotely. Whenever the news or other site updated, my home page updated automatically. I haven't even looked in years, but I imagine there are all new things on my Yahoo and MSN pages that all started from my humble experiments and there's no telling how many changes have been made since then and I didn't have to lift a finger again to do it.

I started a new blog a few months ago and added rss feeds from all my other blogs, apsense articles, mylot discussions, videos from youtube, and adland pro forums I've written. It's still growing on it's own and I only need to go in occassionally and prune whatever comes in that I don't particularly care for. Every time I link to someone else's blog or make a comment and a new comment comes in or they update THEIR blog, it automatically updates on mine as well.
My efforts are reduced and my load is much lighter. I can even copy an entire webpage and publish it in my blog with the touch of a button on my web browser!

Social Bookmarking is also a wonderful, quick and easy way to save all your favorites in one place and share them with people all over the world. If you want to learn a learn a little bit about social bookmarking or "tagging"
Del.icio.us is a great place to start.

Most everything you see here can be done simply by copying and pasting a url into a blank!
If you can right click your mouse you CAN DO THIS! So don't be timid. Just go and read a few lines and you'll be amazed at how fast you'll be adding content to your blogs and websites.
