It is certainly a way of spreading the word and getting traffic. However it is only financially viable in the long term if the sites you promote virally have good solid earning opportunity and a good product.
I think that the flood of "non opportunities" spread virally or not - are the things that are killing internet marketing instead of making it healthier.
Yup, but if you really do have something good - the viral systems take some of the pain our of advertising it.
