Sunil Gavaskar was the first test batsman to score 10,000 test runs.

He was the captain of the Indian cricket team at different times during the 1970s and 1980s.

Sunil Gavaskar has been playing cricket since he was a child when he was named India’s Best Schoolboy Cricketer.

He held the record for 34 test centuries years before Sachin Tendulkar was able to break this record.

Sunil Gavaskar holds the record for the highest number of runs scored by a debutant at 774.

He was the first Indian fielder to catch over 100 balls in test cricket.
