One of the simplest steps to getting youself started in climbing up the search listings ladder is often neglected in favor of fancier search engine submission tools: Google Webmaster Tools. This solution is perfect for you if you host your own site and want it indexed by Google quickly. What it does is to create a sitemap for your site that is then indexed and gets your site into the search results very quickly. More information about this can be found at https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/docs/en/about.html , which also has a link that will take you to the tools themselves. Extremely easy to use and submit, is is the Front Door to Google, so to speak. Once you have done this, you can then concentrate on other methods to climb to the top of you intended search results, but this should be one of your first steps if you host your own site, like Implosion Music , a music site that I have been growing as a pet project for some years now. I recently discovered Google Webmaster Tools, and it made a noticeable difference in the amount of traffic I am getting to my site. When I used the Tools for my site at bradparent.com, , it showed up about two weeks later in the number one spot when someone does a search on my name. Before that all I got when I Googled my name was stuff about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie! So I know this works, and it is very easy to do.
