Why is this happening?

 Apsense
I am sick of these people who put their advertisement on every group. They are going from group to group and simply coping and pasting their advertisements. People who do this should be banned from this site. I don't mind seeing new business ideas and things of that nature, but where do we draw the line?

Perhaps we can get the habitial affenders banned and we can go on about our merry lives. WE need to stick together on this issue. Post your message in one group, NOT 20!

Worse people seem to think if you spam comments that works too. I never look at these people as respectable business owners. They are no better than the spammers sending out UBE.

I must admit when I first came to apsense I started out placing my "blatent" ads. After maybe placing 5 or 6 of these ads I began to see a lot more potential(thanks to some great people). Right now, apsense is a place where I come to reflect, I do my marketing on the outside in a profession manner. I do believe the business center is the place to advertise, some day I'll set mine up, for now I'm happy just to post my two cents. As far as the copy and pasters goes, that is a tough one. These people are the vast majority who have no understanding of marketing, some will learn eventually, but others are more likely to quit before figuring it out. Don't know if this makes sense to anyone, but hopefully it helps at least one person see the light.

OK. No more apologies please. Everybody stuffs up sometimes and we all make an error of judgement. APSense will improve. The kind people at head office will get all the feedback they want and make adjustments as necessary, and another thing. Get get rid of the egos too. "My discussion thinghy has more members than yours, Na na nan nana!" That's pathetic. It's not who has the most members its the quality of the content. OK, back to work everybody. Have an exceptional day...

Bridgette,
I for one don't feel you owe anyone an apology. I have seen your ads, adn like mine, you placed them in the groups that advertised they wanted ads. The fact that several showed up on the front page at the same time, is a function of how Apsense currently works right now.

However, to take someone else's advice earlier in here, might be better to delay some time between them. That would serve two purposes, one, not flood the front page with repeats of your ad. Secondly, and possibly more important, would spread out your ads over a period of time, so more people would see them, instead of just the few who sign in right after you posted your ads. That I think could be a win win solution for everyone. No more apearance of spamming, and reaching potentially more members with your ad.

Doug

Hi All,

BJ thanks for the kudos for thinking up the Category idea - and yes "bang bang you're dead"

I strongly believe that with a list of Categories on the front page it would then be easy for people to find the discussions that interest them without having to go through a long list. and then the list wouldnt have to be on the front page either - so no problem about fairness.

The notifications of discussions for the Groups that we have already joined , or that are in our upline network are already brought to us in our ApSense Express. But for anyone new or anyone looking for specific topics a Category Section saves the need to have "recent subject" on the front page. This could be equally applied to Blogs too.

It also takes away the problem of giving kudos on the front page to people who flood post - as their posts would just be advised to the members of their Groups/network on the ApSense Express and the rest would be able to find them in their proper categories.

It is always possible to have a list of important Groups listed below the Categories (and I do not mean the ones with the most honour points, but the ones that add the most value to the Community (like the ApSense Group to name but one) but this is not essential.

This is done in many Communities and when correctly used it saves a lot of time - and also a lot of bandwidth - as it avoids duplication of topics - which sadly happens a lot here at ApSense - mostly through ignorance of what is available already.

Categories would solve a numer of problems here - that are causing bad feeling and taking up bandwidth too - and it would leave all the advertising Groups together where they make the people happy and dont bother the members who dont want to look at other people's ads. all day and those looking for discussion will be able to find it without wasting time.

The criteria for Spotlighted groups does, I believe, need looking at again - the number of high ranking members joining your group in a given week does not, in my view, automatically qualify it as something of value to the Community - it is just a variation of the numbers game - but we are new and these are teething problems that I am sure will be resolved as we go along. In the meantime a small amount of programming to put Groups in Categories would very welcome and effective.

I have suggested this to the owners and suggest that anyone who agrees with me does the same - they cant read our minds.

Hmmm! This one seems like it's going to run. So basically APSense runs like this. We join through an invite. we get the opportunity to promote ourself, our bus/op, our whatever takes our fancy and other people can do the same thing. We then start our own group discussion and others join in. Sometimes they don't and your left all alone. Ahhh! never mind. There is another group to peruse during your downtime from building your business. Yippee...

Ok you might be an over achiever and be doing the same thing at the same time. (Multi tasking, not a manly quality apparently) So the groups grow and we each of us somehow stumble upon the ones which catch our eye. Aha, a Eureka moment might just invade our otherwise normal daily life and we go "I can put in my two pennorth worth and do an ad at the same time." We're human and we all fall for that one. Done it myself. Hands up. like already mentioned, it's new around here. However as time passes by APSEnse grows up we sort the spammers out and the rest of us get on with our networking enterprizes and enjoy the fun of APSense too. Now that is Multi tasking. See I can do that too and I am a man. Hurrah!

I'm reading Doug's concerns and have given this some thought. As has been pointed out, APSense is in its infancy and we are ALL still learning how to most effectively use it. This type of meaningful discussion is what a community is really all about!

The message that APSense will put your ad in front of 1000s, could cause confusion for the new member. It does not state HOW best to put your ad in front of those thousands. In my opinion, you can contribute MEANINGFUL content to various groups to get your ads in front of 1000s. If anything, I would vote for a change to that wording.

As an example, instead of posting a classified ad in a group, you can participate in conversations - and your ABC link is always right there under your name for people to click to see what you're all about. In the beginning several groups were created that invite blatent ads. As the community grew, those blatent ads became too numerous, and therefore less effective - and increasingly annoying.

This is a difficult concept for many. Relationship marketing is a relatively new concept and there will be those who never learn how to effectively build relationships. It takes time, and it takes a genuine interest in getting to know others.

I agree with what Jenny has pointed out in various threads. Those who do the cut/paste multiple posts will eventually give up and move on, probably blaming APSense for their failure to develop a network. Those who are just "finding their feet" as Brian points out, will learn from their mistakes and see greater success. In other words, it's an evolutionary process.

Just to Clarify and give credit where due, the original idea of Categories for groups goes to Jenny, aka Alasycia. she is however off line at the moment. Went off at about 2 am here in Europe. no staying power lol
(She going to kill me for that one.)
