If a simple and definitive answer could be given to your question, then the SEO support industry would disappear overnight!

Changes to ranking (I am assuming alexa ranking) occur gradually and are influenced by many factors. Among those factors would be such things as regular posts or updates of valuable content. Intermittent updates may have no significant affect.

If you are talking about Google Page Rank, it is an arbitrary scale of 1 to 10 which is applied by some mystical Google mystic. If the appropriate offerings eventuate and due homage is made, positive PR changes to your site could result!

if you want to increase your website's page rank then you have to do build back links from quality and Do-follow websites.
