How about this as an example?
You're writing an article for marketing purposes. In other words, you're hoping that the article will have the reader follow it all the way through to the end where your resource box will direct them to your sales page so that you can ultimately make a sale(The Purpose).

Now, in order to do that, you can't give them too much info in the article itself. So what do you do? You do just that. You tell the reader everything that they need to know and thus have no reason to go to your sales page. The purpose of your article, to make a sale, was defeated.
