Review on Visit NorthumberlandPictured is Cragside House The revolutionary home of Lord Armstrong, Victorian inventor and landscape genius, it was a wonder of its age. Built on a rocky crag high above Debdon Burn, the house is crammed with ingenious gadgets and was the first in the world to be lit by hydro-electricity. Cragside is a garden of breathtaking drama, whatever the season. Armstrong constructed 5 lakes, one of Europe's largest rock gardens, and planted over 7 million trees and shrubs. Today this magnificent estate can be explored on foot or by car and provides one of the last shelters for the endangered red squirrel.
Living only a ten minute drive away I have the pleasure of being able to work and play within this in my biased opinion, most beautiful and dramatic counties of England, take a look at the site and discover a place that is steeped in history, has areas of outstanding beauty and scientific interest, that no matter what your interest or activity is catered for, beautiful and rugged rolling countryside coastlines and beaches, not to mention the quaint and friendly traditional market towns and villages, inhabited by some of the most friendly people I have ever met.
So if you are in England why not visit and experience the pleasure of a county we take for granted and pleasure in everyday
