1922
This is the first story in the book. This story begins with a confession of Mr. Wilfred James about the murder of his wife, Arlette, which followed after their move to Hemingford, Nebraska onto the land which was transferred to Arlette by her father according to his will.

Big Driver
This is the second story in which mystery writer, Tess, has been incrementing her writing income for years by doing dialogue engagements with no problems. But following a desperate invite to a book club 60 miles away, she acquires a shortcut to reach home with terrible consequences.

Fair Extension
Harry Streeter is suffering from cancer. So he decides to make a deal with the devil. But, this deal is not free of any cost since as always, there is a price to pay.

A Good Marriage
This is a story of a married couple. Darcy Anderson stumbles literally upon a box under a worktable in her husbands garage and learns more about her husband of over twenty years than she would have liked to know.
