Nikola "Nick" Steffanov is a Bulgarian American author who gained recognition almost immediately after publishing his first novel 'Background Trip to Chicago: Analysis of an Emerging Immigrant Community' in July of 2011. His unique approach of depicting harsh reality would captivate readers and leave them breathless until the last page. Coarse language and skillfully designed narrative are amalgamated in a homogeneous literary masterpiece that tells the story of many Bulgarian immigrants in the United States through their interaction on many levels.

A sequel, 'Background Trip 2 Chicago', followed in the spring of 2013.
Also, a movie based on the original book premiered in Chicago on May 10, 2013.

Meanwhile, Steffanov wrote a short novel called 'Kapszin' which was published in 2012.

At this time, none of Steffanov's works are available in English.
