Geographical Distribution

Dharmshala is situated beautifully at the height of 1457 meters in the Kangra Valley. It is blissfully surrounded by the Dhauladhar Himalayan mountains. The town is at 18 km distance from Kangra city. Dharamshala is distinctly divided into two major parts, first Lower Dharmshala which is the main city area where all the markets are located, and the second is a mountainous area called McLeodGanj. Dharamshala is surrounded by dense forests of Deodar cedar trees. The place is also known for its tea plantations and its varieties like green, black, oolong and masala tea are popular all over the country. The tea from this area is famously popular as Kangra Green Tea.
