Review on 2010 MS70 Mexico Libertad CoinAn interesting historical fact is that Mexico was the home of the very first mint in the Americas.
The obverse design depicts a landmark statue in Mexico City, 'El Angel de la Independencia', which memorializes Mexicos war of independence with Spain. A crown, symbolizing victory is in her right hand and in her left is a broken chain representing Mexicos freedom from Spanish rule. Behind her are two volcanoes.
On the reverse are multiple versions of the Mexican coat of arms. The center of the design commemorates the historically significant founding of Mexico City with the image of an eagle devouring a snake while standing on a prickly pear cactus. An image that was taken as a sign from the gods, by an ancient tribe.
This coin is stunningly beautiful and would be a wonderful addition to any collection, and a must have for any collector.
