I've been researching my own family history for over 40 years. Even after all that time, I still come across something new about my family that I did not know previously. Currently my area of expertise is the United States and the UK. My road to discover my familys past has taken me back into the 1500's in southern England. Recent evidence suggests that my Rives family came to southern England from France in the mid to late 1400's. I have also found evidence of what may be my Rives family living in southern France as early as the mid 1200's.
