Buring Calories to Lose Weight

Jul 3 2008
Calories are a measurement of energy. Fat is a fuel - or source of energy.

When you exercise you will burn calories (energy). If you are trying to lose weight you generally want to use your stored fat as the energy source.

Try to fit in 30 minutes of moderate to vigorous exercise every day. It can be anything you like that gets you moving - a dance class, swimming, walking, playing with your kids, gardening . . . You are more likely to be able to stick to an exercise plan that you enjoy, so choose something that is FUN for you!

It helps to make every effort to be more active in your day. Park at the back of the Supermarket carpark, take the stairs instead of the lift, walk over to talk to your work colleagues rather than e-mail. Every little bit helps.

Try to make your exercise time non-negotiable. Let family and friends know that your exercising time is not something you are prepared to give up. And try to think of it as part of your lifestyle so that it simply becomes a habit.
