This is a week planet and is considered to be half benefice in conjunction with a benefice, it becomes a benefice, and in conjunction with malefic, it becomes malefic. This house is between the Sun and Venus, both of whom are friends of Mercury. It has the aspect of Jupiter. This Ascendant is best suited for women to be born in, for it is an even sign and women born in even signs especially with the Moon also in an even sign, are said to be very modest and also have all those inexplicable qualities which are a woman's own. But here there is one problem; the Sun and Mercury are often always together, so also are Mercury and Venus. The Sun and Mercury being together must definitely be considered to be bad because the lord of the Ascendant will be in conjunction with the lord of the 12th house and hence it is bad unless this conjunction takes place in one of the malefic houses 6th, 8th, or 12th wherein also there must be only the aspect of a malefic planet or at least there must be absence of influence of any benefice planet.
The conjunction of Mercury and Venus is undoubtedly perfect, in that, it happens to be a conjunction of the lords of the 1st and 2nd houses. But even here, there is a possibility of the Sun and Venus being together. Therefore, especially for a Virgo Ascendant Mercury and Venus have to be as far away from the Sun as possible so that the strength of the horoscope may not be reduced. This sign is associated, so also Gemini, with lawyers, religious preachers, etc., for the simple reason that Mercury, the indicator for knowledge, happens to be the lord of the 1st and 10th house for Virgo Ascendant and 1st and 4th houses if the Ascendant happens to be Gemini. The Ascendant has the aspect of Jupiter, and generally, people born in this sign or Gemini is a bit obese and medium stature. They are lovers of art and beauty and enjoy themselves through travels and social contacts and retain the vigor of youth even in old age.
The 2nd house has Venus as its lord with the aspect of Saturn and Mars. This house is between Mercury and Mars. The aspect of these two malefic planets on this house is indeed terrible. These people are prone to be a bit untruthful, and somehow domestic happiness is denied to them. So far as the question of money is concerned, very often they do not inherit any planet in life by themselves, of course depending upon so many other conditions.
The 3rd house has Mars as its lord who is an indicator for brothers. This house has the aspect of Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, and Venus. This house is between Jupiter and Venus. These people have a good number of brothers and sisters. They are bold and can bear troubles in their lives. They do not have much travel and are rather revengeful in the sprite, but somehow or the other they are not able to put these thoughts into action as much as they may desire to do so.
The 4th house has Jupiter as its lord. The house itself is between Mars and Saturn. This house has the aspect of Mercury, and to that extent one can say, especially since Jupiter and the Moon, the indicator for mother, are friends, the native has a good mother, but still since this house is between two malefic planets, there will be some trouble in so far as the question of her health is connected. They get a decent education but very rarely do they have proper conveyances. They have a large circle of friends. Very often they own land of their own which they lose somehow or other in life especially when they pass through the significant periods of inauspicious planets.
The 5th house has Saturn in it with the aspect of the Moon. This house is between Jupiter and Saturn. These people are knowledgeable but since Saturn happens to be the lord of this house, there are very strong indications for a perversity of thought and nature in them, and owing to the aspect of the Moon, they are generally easily misled. Owing to the absence of any malefic aspect on this house, one can say that there is some Poorva- Punya behind them, i.e., they must have done some good deeds in their previous birth, whose beneficial reward they may expect particularly about achievements, a devotion of children and the creative thinking.
The 6th house has Saturn in it with the aspect of Mars and the Sun, and this house is between Saturn and Jupiter. They generally try to steer clear of debts and the aspect of two malefic planets, the Sun and Mars on this house, assures them of freedom from disease, ill-health, etc.
The 7th house has Jupiter as its lords, and this house is between two malefic planets and is expected by Mercury. Jupiter and Venus are enemies, but Jupiter and Mercury are friendly. Hence they may marry well, but still, a lot of domestic unhappiness and want of understanding between the husband and wife are always present, and the wife's health may also suffer. They are highly sexed.
The 8th house has the aspect of Venus, Jupiter, and Saturn. This house is between Jupiter and Venus. This house gives them a very long life, and the aspect of these two benefice planets generally must be considered to be responsible for the troubles and tribulations they often pass through in their lives.
The 9th house has Venus in it with the aspect of Mars. This house is between Mars and Mercury. The aspect of malefic mars cannot be considered to be much good. Venus and the Sun, the indicator for the father, are enemies. Hence they generally do not inherit any lose it. In all these cases, a precise comparison has to be made; the conjunction of the Sun and Venus for Virgo Ascendant may be considered to be good so far as the question of the father is considered because it is a conjunction between the lord of the 9th house Venus and the Sun, the indicator for father. But then the Venus becomes eclipsed, besides being an enemy of the Sun. Supposing Jupiter happens to be the lord of the 9th house and is in conjunction with the Sun, as in the case of Cancer Ascendant, Jupiter and the Sun are friendly. Therefore, the conjunction of Jupiter and the Sun is considered to be much better than the conjunction of the Sun and Venus. Take the case of Taurus Ascendant. The lord of the 9th house happens to be Saturn, and we can say that the conjunction of the Saturn and the Sun is proper, as in this case also they are enemies. Therefore, when one examines a horoscope, he must not be guided by the conjunction of Karaka and Bhavadhipati alone, but he must consider whether they are friendly or inimical planets. For Taurus Ascendant or Virgo Ascendant, the conjunction of Mercury and Sukra will be that of the conjunction of lords of 1st and 2nd houses. Again for Cancer Ascendant, the conjunction of the Sun and the Moon will yet be the conjunction of the lord of 1st and 2nd houses. Can we say this conjunction is as good as the former? Of course not for the Moon becomes eclipsed and becomes malefic by its warning. Hence this conjunction of the Sun and Moon is considered dangerous.
Therefore the distinction has always to be made.
The 10th house has Mercury in it with the aspect of Jupiter and Mars. This house is between Venus and the Moon. These people hold some high position and responsibility in their lives, and they often try to be independent. There is not much religious fervor seen about them. They generally are not capable of harming others. They always think well of others.
The 11th house has the aspect of Saturn, Jupiter, and Mars.
This house is between Mercury and the Sun. These people earn well in their lives and often have a windfall or lottery or gains through inheritance.
The 12th house has the Sun in it with the aspect of Saturn and Jupiter. Somehow they are not able to enjoy their lives though they may have ample money. This house is between the Moon and Mercury.
