You Need Good Brakes To Stay Safe On The Roads

by Dave Adamson Freelance Writer
In today's world, most people depend on cars, trucks and vans to get where they need to go. Whether its to and from work, taking children to school and sporting events, running errands, grocery shopping or even taking a vacation, people depend on their automobiles to get them from point A to point B every day. More often than not, drivers jump in the car, buckle up, check the gas level and go without giving anything else a second thought. Unless and until something goes wrong, car owners usually do not think about everything that happens inside a car to keep it running smoothly and safely. However, when something does go wrong, automobile owners quickly recognize the importance of a well running car and a trust worthy mechanic. This is even more evident when something goes wrong with the car's brakes. One trip with faulty brakes will quickly illustrate the importance of working car brakes and they will never be taken for granted again.

Brakes are crucial to safe driving. Being able to depend on your car brakes to stop your vehicle quickly, reliably and predictably helps keep everyone on the road safe. Knowing your car can stop if a child or animal darts in front of you or that you can stop to avoid hitting a car that braked suddenly is critical to driving safely and confidently. The road is unpredictable, you simply never know what you will encounter when you get behind the wheel. Being able to depend on your car's brakes to respond when activated is a simple thing you can do to increase your safety and decrease your chances of an accident.

Brakes should be checked regularly to make sure they are in good working order. Brake pads and rotors can wear out and if not replaced, your braking system can fail. The braking hydraulic system also need routine maintenance to ensure brake fluid levels are good, the master cylinder is in good shape and that hoses are free from leaks and carry fluids efficiently to the wheel brakes. Drums, pads, rotors, calipers, cylinders and brake shoes need to be inspected and replaced as soon as signs of wear begin to show.

If your brakes feel spongy when you depress them, your steering wheel, brake pedal or car shakes when you brake, you hear squealing or grinding noises when you stop, or your car pulls to one side when you brake, you need to get your car in for brake inspection and repair. If you notice any of these warning signs, do not wait until it is too late and your brakes fail causing an accident. Call us immediately and let us fix your brakes and get you back on the road safely.
