Yamaha SZ Specs, Features, Reviews, Price in India

In the Indian two-wheeler market there is high demand for stylish powerful bikes which can be used for daily commuting and also for touring. The Yamaha SZ range bikes provide stiff competition in the thickly populated 150 cc segment. Originally launched in 2010 The Yamaha SZ bike has refreshed versions the SZ-R (2012), the SZ-S (2013), SZ-RR (2013) and the SZ-RR 2.0 (2013). Presently the Yamaha SZ is available in three versions the SZ-S, the SZ-R and the SZ-RR 2.0.

The Yamaha SZR is a modified version of the 150 cc SZX bike. Priced Rupees 69,000 the SZ-R has an analogue speedometer, a digital fuel gauge and a low fuel indication on the console. The SZ-S version priced Rupees 72,500 has analogue speedometer and tacho meter, digital fuel gauge and low fuel indication on the panel. The SZ-RR 2.0 priced Rupees 65,722 has a kill switch in addition. The SZ-S comes in red and white colours. The SZ-R and SZ-RR come in quality red, quality black and quality white colours

The Yamaha SZ-RR 2.0 bike has a sportier look with 35 watt trapezoidal halogen head lamps, smoked wind screen, aluminium grab rails instead of steel, a 3 dimensional emblem and a dual colour panel. The SZ bikes have a 5 Ah battery with 35 w head lamps, tail lamps and turn signals

The Yamaha SZ bikes are powered by 153 cc air cooled engines with carburetor type fuel system and CDI type injection giving mileages of 62 imply. The SZR is tuned to 12 bhp and 12 NM torque and the SZ-S and SZ-RR are tuned to 11.9 bhp and 12.8 NM torque. The transmission is through wet multi plate clutch and chain drive. The bikes take 5.9 seconds for 0 to 60 kmph acceleration and the top speed of 105 kmph.

The diamond type chassis of the SZ bike has telescopic suspension at the front and swing arm suspension type at the rear. The SZ-R variant has disc type brakes at both the ends. The SZ-S variant has 150 mm disc at the front and 130 mm drum at the rear and the SZ-RR 2.0 has 245 mm disc at the front and 130 mm drum at the rear.

The dimensions of the Yamaha ZS bikes are 2050 mm length, 1320 mm wheel base and 165 mm ground clearance. The weight is 133 to 134 kg and the fuel tank capacity is 14 (1.4 reserve) litres. The wheels are 17” size for all the models.

Refined engines, build quality and disc brakes are plus points of the Yamaha SZ bikes. The competition comes from the Bajaj Pulsar, the Honda CB Unicorn, the Hero Hunk and the Hero CB Xtreme.
