Wire Binding Supplies – A Durable Binding Method

by Lara Dunn Content Writing

Today’s customers are getting many wonderful wire binding supplies which are traditional and innovative and new styles as well. So it's a daunting task for you to select the right machine and supplies which will fulfill your needs and demands. In this article we will talk about the basics of wire binding which is more durable and secure and also traditional in binding styles.

To create strong and secure bound booklets the wire binding uses the twin loop wires which are also known as double loop wires, duo wires, wire-O, and wire binds. There are two different punch patters used in wire binding -2:1 pitch which has two holes per inch and 3:1 pitch which has three holes per inch. For smaller documents with fewer than 120 pages the 3:1 is designed for which has square holes. For larger documents with 110 pages or more the 2:1 pitch pattern is designed for which has rectangular holes. The holes can be punched by a manual or electric punch depending upon the binding volume. The holes in the document are aligned with the prongs of the wire and inserted hen the pages have been punched with appropriate whole pattern. To gently bend the prongs of the wire into the closed position a specialized device called a wire closer is used to secure the documents in place.

There are two kinds of twin loop wires-2:1 and 3:1 pitch and sold in pre-cut 11” lengths as well as bulk spools for the production environments. They come into different colors not as much as the plastic binding coils or 19 ring binding combs. Duo wires do not need to be opened before a document unlike the plastic binding combs because they are already in n open condition. The wire bound documents lay flat when opened because the loped designs of binding wires enables them and help them to become an excellent choice for report and presentations.

Wire binding has two functions. First one is punching the document and second one is closing the binding wire to secure the document in place. By using manual and electric machines both the punching and closing can be accomplished. Manual versions are highly recognized instead of electric wire closer because the electric version is usually use in high volume production environments. Some stand-alone units have powers of doing either punch or close. But most of the wire binding machines has both the punching and closing capabilities.
