by Vikas Sudan Digital Markting

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has established modern, state of the art training centres that are known as Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra (PMKK). These training centres aim to provide vocational training to transform the youth of India into employable individuals.

What are some of the objectives of the PMKK initiative?

  • Creating a benchmark in demonstrating the value in competency-based development training

  • Deliver quality in terms of providing skill training to the youth of India

  • Transform into a sustainable institutional model

The aim of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra courses is to standardize the skill development for jobs. This is done by the MSDE setting skill training centres in every district. AISECT, in partnership with NSDC, has set up  23 training centres in four clusters in two states, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. These clusters are MP-1, MP-9, CG-3 and CG-4 which have a total of 23 districts.

The Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana is the initiative that is in charge of establishing PMKKs. This initiative is meant for skill development initiative for the recognition and standardization of skills.

The PMKVY scheme intends to encourage the rural youth to improve and hone their skills and become employable. A strict guideline is followed in terms of the quality of training provided to them. These skill development training courses ensure a better livelihood for the youth of India. The best part of this scheme is that the training and assessment fees are paid by the government.

There are recognitions and awards for people who have already achieved a certain level of skill in any of the courses. In order to be eligible for these training programmes, an individual must be a citizen of the country. Since the rural areas of India have a large number of employable individuals, it is very important that they receive the right kind of training so that they can get employment and contribute to the economy of the country. These skill development initiatives help the rural youth earn a livelihood that is more than that of a daily wage worker. This was earlier not possible for them because of a lack of resources and skills.

AISECT has partnered with both these schemes and aims to train the youth who are interested in skill training courses. These  training centres provide quality training and placement assistance to the trainees so that they can earn better salaries than the minimum daily wages.

The steps for this are very simple.

At first one will need to find a training centre, and then find out if the skill one is interested in is taught there. Once the information is received, the registration for the training can be done.

Once the training is completed and the skill is learnt, an assessment will be held. Upon success, certification follows.

Post-certification, employment is granted. One of the features that this scheme is to give a job guaranteed to the 75% of the registered trainees. The scheme has benefited over 10 million youth in India so far and strives to keep benefiting them. AISECT is proud to be a part of such an endeavour.
