by Radhika Pawar creative content writer

Have you ever been appreciated fantastically? Think of that moment someone made you feel special, even if it was just for a moment. Yes, that’s what we’re talking about.

And that’s what National Guy’s Valentine’s Day is all about. It’s the day to make that special guy in your life feel loved and appreciated.

Valentine’s day dates back to the 14thcentury when it was declared the“official day of romance” celebrate on February 14.

And it was during this special day that you could demonstrate the utmost love to your loved ones.

However, this holiday was later modified by communities to fit their ideological, cultural, and theological beliefs.

But this couldn’t go by without innovative companies such as Cadbury Chocolate and Hallmark, making it more real than ever before in the 19th century.

It was by that time that Cadbury Chocolate hit the market on Valentine’s Day with different distinctive flavors of Chocolate to help add gravity to the day.

Not so long after that, Hallmark took the game a notch higher by introducing the first-ever Valentine’s Card.

At least, by this time, people were now able to express their great and lovely Valentine’s wishes fantastically and concretely.

How’s Valentine’s Celebrated? You May Ask!

Valentine’s customs depend argely on the community celebrating it.

In the USA, Valentine’s Day is celebrated by anyone with no restrictions to age. However, the Trend seemed to change.

Despite being a holiday for both parties in a relationship, it didn’t take long before some top-rated companies such as LoveWorks® noticed a peculiar trend in Valentine’s Day Purchases.

Guesswhat?

Men spent more than five times what their female counterparts and couples spent.

But, this isn’t the case with Asian countries such as Korea, Taiwan, and Japan, where women spent massively on buying men gifts.

Meanwhile, in a country like the Philippines, ‘you reap what you sow.’ In other words, if you don’t gift your guy during Valentine’s Daythere’s nothing for you on Guy’s Valentine’s Day.

Is Men’s Valentine’s Day for real?

Guy’s Valentine’s Day (National Guy’s Valentine’s Day) might sound a bit new thoughit is actually a bit older.

It dates back to 1978 when ‘White Day’ was first created and celebrated in Asian countries such as Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and more.

This was a special day dedicated toladies to appreciate special guys in a unique way. Besides being a men’s day, it also backs the Asian culture of ‘returning the favor’ to whoever gifted you.

In the USA, men continued to dig deeper into their pockets to make the day incomparable for ladies.

This sent a group of men in the USA into protesting (tongue-in-cheek) since they felt not being appreciated.

In 2002, a male DJ at a radio station declared March 14 a special day for men, though in a vulgar language that made it not to “stick.”

Instead of gaining support, it elicited hilarious memes on the internet, with no one willing to be associated with it.

Rebranding Of The Holiday

It was until 2016 when LoveWorks® jumped in the fray to restore the lost glory of the March 14 holiday by rebranding it to the National Guy’s Valentine’s Day.

Thanks to LoveWorks® for such an awesome name.

The new name has now made it possible for family members, churches, and even schools to get involved in the National Guy’s Valentine’s Day without fear or doubt of character taint.

And now, Valentine’s Day is for all of us!

National Guys Valentine’s Day is promoted to provide positive reinforcement by letting the special guys feel acknowledged, loved, and appreciated.
