Why Is Acrylic So Commonly Used For Making Cosmetic Displays?

by Reg Burn Plastic Fabricator
Among the different materials used for making various kinds of displays, acrylic is perhaps the most common. There are several industries in Australia, including the one dealing with cosmetics, which utilise the benefits of acrylic for manufacturing bespoke display solutions to promote their products and services. Acrylic and cosmetics have shared a timeless bond since the last few decades. The material is used extensively more making various types of cosmetic displays that we often get to see at retail stores and shopping malls. But why PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate) is popularly used for making cosmetic organisers and exhibitors? Let’s have a look at some primary characteristic features of the material:

Bright & Glossy :
Unlike metal and wood which need to made glossy and shiny by artificial means, acrylic has a natural lustre that makes it reflect light more efficiently. That is why cosmetic displays made out of it are highly effective in grabbing the attention of passers by and triggering an interest in them to try out the products.

Flexible :
Being extremely flexible, acrylic can easily be moulded in a variety of ways. This explains why cosmetic organisers come in a wide range of shapes and sizes. Each one of them are designed in order to fulfill a certain purpose, and the flexibility of PMMA makes it all possible.

Easy To Handle :
Acrylic cosmetic displays are extremely lightweight, which makes the task of handling them relatively easier than that of cases made using metal or wood. Besides that, PMMA can withstand impacts more effectively than glass and is therefore, not easily breakable.

Requires Low Maintenance :
Anything made out of acrylic, be it a lipstick holder or a normal cube-shaped box, is quite easy to maintain. All one needs to do is just wipe them with a piece of clean cloth once or twice everyday. This factor helps to save a lot of time as well as human resources.

Transparency :
Acrylic is highly transparent and the products kept within a display made out of it can be seen clearly, a property that metal or wood lacks. Any cosmetic placed inside a Perspex or Plexiglass case can be seen by potential buyers even from a distance.

Thus, we see that acrylic possesses several characteristics which make it an ideal material for use in the construction of cosmetic displays, makeup organisers and the like. No other substance can offer such a broad range of advantages.
