Why Drugged Driving is Just as Bad as Drunk Driving

In fact, drugged driving is causing just as many car accidents as alcohol. MADD reported that in 2013, drunk driving caused 10,076 deaths and 290,000 injuries. Alongside drunk driving, 9.9 million people reported driving under the influence of illicit drugs. Drug rehab centers from Los Angeles to the East Coast are working to reduce this number. 

Measuring Drugged Driving 

Driving under the influence of illegal drugs or improperly-used prescription drugs is dangerous, but unlike alcohol, drug consumption can be more difficult to measure. This has made it a challenge to record how many accidents are actually linked to driving under the influence of drugs. 

Marijuana is the number one drug linked to these accidents, but is often overlooked.
