Why do you need a box spring for your mattress?

When you are purchasing a mattress, you may wonder if you need anything else to go with that mattress. You may think this because even if the mattress is on top of a bed frame, the bed itself might feel a bit too low compared to your friends or families beds. Because of this existing box spring!

A box spring is a foundation or support for your mattress. Although current models don’t have “springs,” the old models that were made when this term was made had springs in them.

Now, most box springs are mainly just foundations with bones that don’t move and support the mattress overall. Box Springs are mainly made of either wood or metal and both types are popular.

When you are deciding on whether to purchase a box spring or not, consider these options that become available to you when you do indeed have one.

You do not need a bed frame. As the box spring has an elevated level, it can act as a bed frame and allow you sleep elevated without the need of a bed frame. Although it may not look as nice, you can save money doing so.

Adjustable Level. Some box springs have a motor inside which can raise the level of the bed allowing you to be able to change how high you sleep every night.

If your old mattress or your new house came with a box spring, you may want to get a new one just in case. An old box spring can wear down the mattress, which will eventually make the mattress sag.

So even though you may already have one, spend a little bit more on top of the mattress so that you don’t ruin your new mattress and void the warranty just because of an old box spring.

If you need to place a mattress over an object or frame so that it is more elevated or you do not wish to place the mattress on the floor, a box spring is a way to go.

We highly suggest going the extra mile and getting a height adjusting box spring!
