Why Breakfast is the Most Important Meal of the Day?

by Chris Ingallina Corporate Caterers
It is widely argued that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. A good hearty breakfast helps boost one’s metabolism and starts one’s day off with plenty of vitamins, minerals and calories. It has been shown that people who eat a good breakfast are more productive throughout the day. But many people struggle to find the time for breakfast, even with the wide variety of popular breakfast items.

One of the most common foods found in breakfast items is eggs. Not only are eggs cost effective, they are also high in protein and can be prepared in a wide variety of ways. But many people don’t have the time to prepare a large egg breakfast before heading to work. For a quick on-the-go breakfast, hard-boiled eggs are the way to go. They can be prepared ahead of time and eaten alone or made into an Egg Salad sandwich. This is a good high-protein option for someone looking for a quick bite while running out the door.

Another common breakfast option is Cold Cereal. There is no cooking time involved and a box of cereal will say fresh for weeks. The addition of fresh fruit adds some sweetness and provides much needed vitamins. While the cereal itself contains little protein, choosing a milk that has plenty of protein will keep you full until lunch time.

Pancakes, waffles, and crepes are some other favored breakfast choices, and they can be topped with bananas, strawberries, or any other fruit for added nutrition. Traditional recipes do not contain much protein, so adding cottage cheese to the batter can help! These items do take some time to prep and cook, so they are not a good choice for those on the run, but their dessert-like qualities make them a perfect option for the occasional breakfast splurge–even a high sugar breakfast is better than no breakfast at all!

Breakfast is such an important meal that many companies offer breakfast for their employees, especially at early morning business meetings. Danishes and muffins with a platter of fresh fruit is an economical way to provide nourishment at the start of the day. Breakfast sandwiches are a bit more substantial and provide a load of protein. For employees that travel to different locations throughout the day, a gourmet breakfast box lunch is a perfect way to take your breakfast on the go! Providing breakfast at the workplace is becoming so popular that many corporate caterers are now offering a large breakfast menu, including plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. For instance, Ingallina’s Box Lunch–with kitchens in Seattle, Los Angeles, Portland and Phoenix–offers free breakfast and lunch deliveries throughout the metro areas.

It is essential to a healthy lifestyle to start the day off with a nutritious breakfast. Whether grabbing a quick on-the-go snack or an array of breakfast party platters at the office, making breakfast a priority is a must in today’s busy world.
