Why Are Natural Handmade Soaps So Wonderful?

by Mary Ferguson natural skincare
Have you ever looked at the soaps you really use? Sure, you walk into a store, smell the fragrance jumping off all the beautifully packaged soaps (some of them liquid), decide on which you like best and make your purchase to milk your soap for all its worth. After all, it’s cheap, smells good, and sort of serves its purpose, right? On the other hand, going for natural handmade soaps instead would mean shelling a little more out of your pocket every time.

But next time you do have a few minutes, stop a minute to see the label of your soaps. Check to see the composition and ask yourself if you really want to put your body through the experience of all those harsh chemicals just because of the appearance of the soap you use.

How do they harm you?

The soap making process is an interesting one wherein the soap as we know it is created in order that all our cleaning needs are met without harming our skin. However, these days, the soap making process is more corrupt, wherein the glycerine in the soap, which is the key ingredient to tone and moisturize your skin to make it soft and smooth as the advertisements promise, isn’t being added to your soaps. Without glycerine, which is generally an expensive product with wide scope of profitability in the market, the soap becomes harsh and bad for the skin, almost detergent-like in composition. Natural homemade soaps, on the other hand, are made without harsh chemicals and generous doses of glycerine to keep your skin intact.

Commercial soaps mostly consist of synthetic agents for different aspects including lathering and colouring. Triclosan is another component in the soaps that is very harmful for health. Our skin is delicate and absorbs a lot of what it comes in contact with, which can be very harmful.

What is the solution?

Luckily for all of us, fear of chemical filled, synthesized products need not necessarily mean that we can’t shower anymore. Small businesses today create natural handmade soaps that are organic in composition, with half the profits and even lesser publicity, are on the rise everywhere. What these companies create are actually real soap bars following the healthiest combinations of constitution for soap bar with the least chances of causing any harm to the skin. The only hitch with these is probably that they cost more than your average soaps, but let’s face it, health comes first.

Choose the right soap

Just because it says ‘handmade’ on the cover doesn’t mean that all natural handmade soaps are chemical-free. Like you would with commercial soap bars, with natural handmade soaps too, it is absolutely necessary to read the composition and ingredients labels on the soap packaging. Avoid the ones that use artificial products and go for those that use only products that have an organic base. This will ensure that you do not expose yourself to harmful chemicals and lead a healthier life automatically!

Take advantage of the incredible properties of natural hand-made soaps. Benefit from a reasonable price by purchasing handmade natural soaps.
