When You’re Lost In The Clouds

by Geoff M. Marketing Manager
What do you think happens between the time you press the send button on your email and the time it reaches its destination?

For a start it is worth knowing that at the moment it leaves your computer it is likely to be one of many millions flying through space when you consider that by the end of that one day another three hundred billion other emails will have travelled a similar route.

With such volume there is always going to be some risks and the warning signs are always lurking indicating that one day there may be an almighty crash as the whole thing implodes.

On the otherhand, the steady old and reliable fax quietly ticks along sending encrypted messages that take another route and continue to be the safest way to pass information.

Big business these days use a combination of the two with the computer providing the data and the fax ensuring a safe journey.

The transfer of data over the airways is a risky business if every precaution is not taken. Internet accounts are bombarded with viruses and all manner of unwanted rubbish and the average home computer user may have to live with the occasional spam and other malware but big business cannot possibly afford that scenario.

This is why they often employ the best IT guys possible to make sure nothing sinister leaves or more importantly, enters their systems.

Third party companies also help sometimes in addition to the in-house specialists.
Take a company like Interfax which has spent the best part of fourteen years dedicated to making fax through email postings as secure as can be.

There are various international standards which must be reached before such organisations can offer the service that is accepted by credit and debit card companies as well as other banking institutions, and this they have achieved.

When you consider the damage and the value to organised cybercrime gangs should a few hundred thousand credit and debit card details fall into their hands and you understand why the safeguards are so stringent.

The combination of computer and fax line ensures the information arrives at the point it is meant to as a fax and not an email.

The setting up of this service could not be easier as there is no need for any hardware upgrades and the existing protocol like Outlook already exists.

What the customer gets out of it is the peace of mind knowing a dedicated company with the highest of standards as endorsed by their many thousands of existing clients can testify and also absolutely no up-front costs.

For a business that does not have a fax server the advantages are also that that particular piece of hardware is not needed, along with the inevitable support costs.

The user writes emails just as usual including any attachment and sends it to the fax number of the person it is intended for. The encrypted message arrives in cloud fax, the dedicated and completely secure server before being forwarded to the receivers fax machine.
