Gold drop rate is different for Normal, Nightmare, Hell, and Inferno. While on Nightmare you can stumble upon 300-400 gold (regular gold find score), on Hell with the same gold find score you find 900-1200 gold.

The best spot to get good items in 1.0.4 can only be found in Acts 3 and 4 of Inferno mode. It is level 63 again, but you fight a boss up front without stacking valor and then kill one elite, then fight a 2nd boss. Its hard to stack valor in Act 4.
