What to Do If You Are Unable to Charge Your PS4 Controller

Sony PlayStation 4 is an astounding gaming console that can quickly awaken the kids inside of all of us. But what if its controller stops working and you are unable to charge it? Scary, right? However, there are a few fixes that we can use to fix our controller. So today, we are sharing with you six quick fixes that you can use if you are unable to charge your PS4 controller.

Clean Its Charging Port

Sometimes you might face charging issues with your PS4 controller if its charging port is not clean and is full of debris or dust. Why? Because dust and debris affect your controller’s ability to charge itself. But we can fix this issue by cleaning the charging port of our PS4 controller. To do this:

  1. Disconnect your Controller from your PS4.
  2. Now remove the charging cable from your PS4.
  3. Finally, clean the charging port of your DualShock 4 controller with a dry and clean cloth.

Note: Make sure that the cloth you use for cleaning the port of your PS4 controller is completely dry if you don’t want to damage your controller.

Check the Charging Cable Connection

The next thing that you can do if you are unable to charge your PS4 controller with your PS4 is to check your charging cable connection and ensure that the connection is not loose. Why? Because if your charging cable connection is loose, then your controller might not be able to receive electricity charge properly from your PS4 due to which your PS4 controller won’t be able to charge itself. So, make sure you have correctly connected your charging cable with your PS4 Controller and PS4 if you are unable to charge your PS4 controller.

Replace the Charging Cable

If your charging cable is faulty or worn out, then you might not be able to charge your PS4 controller with your PS4.To make sure this is not the case, try using a different charging cable with your DualShock 4 controller and see if this solves your problem or not. If it does solve your problem, then your old micro USB cable (charging cable) has become faulty. So, make sure you check your controllers charging cable if you are unable to charge it.

Try Using a High-Quality USB Charger

If the USB port of your PlayStation 4 is not working correctly or has become faulty, then you might face charging issues with your PS4 controller. So, to make sure this is not the case, try using a high-quality USB charger or use the USB port of your PC or laptop for charging your PS4 controller and see if it is charging or not. If it does start charging, then the USB port of your PS4 might be damaged, and you must get it repaired by an expert to use your PS4 for charging your PS4 controller.

Reset Your Controller

Sometimes your PS4 controller might not charge due to firmware issues or bugs. However, we can fix this problem by resetting our controller. So, try resetting your PS4 controller if you are unable to charge it. To do this:

  1. Disconnect your Controller from your PS4.
  2. Now, take a toothpick and place it inside of the small hole, which is present on the backside of your PS4 controller and wait for 5 seconds.
  3. Finally, boot your gaming console (PlayStation 4) and reconnect your controller to it and see if the controller is charging or not.

Replace Its Battery

If none of the above fixes works, then it might be the fault of your PS4 controller’s battery due to which you are unable to charge your controller. For example, your controller’s battery might be unable to hold the charge when connected for charging. However, we can solve this issue by replacing our controller’s old battery with a new one. You can do this by taking your controller to an expert, or You can purchase a new PS4 controller battery and replace your old battery yourself by opening the back cover of your controller.

Note: Don’t open your controller unless you don’t know exactly how you can replace its battery; else you may do permanent damage to your controller.
