What is veterinary medicine?

by TM Maria Be a king in your own kingdom
The word Veterinary comes from the Latin veterinae that is related to the words beast or pack animal. Veterinary Medicine is the medical science that is responsible for preventing, diagnosing and curing diseases that affect domestic animals, wild animals, and production animals.

At present, Veterinarian Kansas City Mo also deals with the inspection and sanitary control of food, the prevention of zoonoses. The professional who puts this science into practice is called a Veterinary Doctor.

Veterinary medicine is a profession that although in today's world it is a trend and in high need, it is also true that it is an activity so old that it starts from the first moment in which humans relate to the animals with which they work.

History of veterinary medicine

It is known that the origin and subsequent development of veterinary medicine are strongly marked to the same human civilization, since man when performing the process of domestication of animals for his benefit, had to face serious health, reproductive and nutritional problems of themselves, which led to this beautiful profession.

The first cities and states seem to have arisen in the Middle East, in the regions that today correspond to Iraq, Syria and neighboring countries.

Agriculture and livestock were human activities that allowed nomadic populations to settle permanently. With the domestication of the first production animals (cows, sheep) and work animals (horses, donkeys), along with the introduction of the first crops, the need to be constantly moving in search of fruits to collect and prey to hunt disappeared.

Human civilization, as we know it today, had taken its first steps. Thus, it was also in the Middle East where the first veterinarians began, characters responsible for ensuring the health of domestic animals, of which little is known on how they were formed and what techniques they used to carry out their work.

Symbol of veterians

The symbol of veterinary medicine is represented by a snake entwined in a cane and these two between the letter V consisting of the initial veterinary letter.

The symbol is very similar to that of human medicine, however, that of human medicine is characterized by having two snakes and wings, that of veterinary medicine has as its main characteristic the letter V with which the name of the profession begins.

The cane represents the authority of the profession and the strong support of its patients. According to mythology, the cane was made from a tree branch, which is why it also represents the healing capacity of plants.

The snake represents the cure and rebirth, which reflects the fact that the reptile is capable of transforming from a change of skin.

The green symbol has two shades in terms of the cane and the letter V which are dark green the snake is the bites are clear.
