What are the Types and Advantages of Suede Leather?

by Jack Snap Writer
Suede is the perfect finished leather that gives softer and tough touch to the fabric. It is the inner surface of animal hides, visible on the underside of the leather. Manufacturers and designers use this soft underside of the leather simply by turning the upside-down so the suede is on the exterior.

What is Suede made of?
Leather manufacturing is a complex and ancient process that transforms the animal’s hide into our favorite items and accessories. Suede leather can be made from almost any animal hide and the type of animal hide has an effect on the finish of the suede. It is the inner surface of the animal hide.

What It Is Used For?
The beautifully soft and light nature of suede makes it perfect for clothing and high-quality fashion accessories including bags, shoes and more. There are many automotive manufacturers that use suede material for car headliners. Apart from this highly leveraged use, another popular use of suede material is traditional western leather jackets.

Types of Suede Leather
There are various types of suede leather available that are dependent on the type of animal hide used:

  • Sheepskin Suede
It is made from the skins of the lambs and is pliable, brush textured suede with a velvet nap and is the most lightweight and delicate type of suede widely available. Sheepskin suede leathers are excellent at keeping out the cold wind and damp droning the winter.

  • Pigskin Suede
Pigskin is not popular as sheepskin, being much tougher and firmer in texture. It can still be used to make suede but with a much shorter soft nap on the surface. It is generally longer lasting than other suede.

  • Cowhide Suede
Just like sheepskin, calf produces much softer hide than the fully grown cow. Creating a suede with a coarser snooze, it is not as popular as the previous one, but creates a very durable leather if you are after something incredibly long-lasting.

Advantages of Suede Leather:

  • Durable: Suede is a very durable and tough fabric compared to cloth fabrics. The thin nature of suede gives it a fine and subtle drape.

  • Smooth Appearance: Suede is very soft and its smooth snooze has given it an appealing fabric texture.

  • Pliable: Suede is pliable leather that can be molded easily to make cloth, accessories, and car headliners.

  • Long-lasting: Suede is a form of leather and it can last for an extremely long time.

Conclusion:
Suede is a type of fuzzy leather that is used in the production of normal leather. It comes with a napped finish and a lot of advantages. You can use high-quality suede material for car headliners, clothing, accessories, and many other purposes.
