What are the differences between ghee and clarified butter?

by Mitun Mukherjee Milkio food product

The clarified butter vs ghee question first arises when you realize that both ghee and butter are made from the same fat, which is cow milk. But what is the difference between the two? Ghee or clarified ghee is an unrefined type of semi-solid fat derived from milk fat that is generally used in Indian cuisine. Not only for cooking, but ghee can also be used to treat burns, swelling, pain, and bruises.

Ghee is used in Indo-Asian cuisine and in Middle  East food culture. Clarified butter is made by heating milk butter until the milk solids get separated. But ghee is cooked for some more time till the milk solids get converted into the caramelized condition and start emancipating a nutty flavor.

So, both the products are made from pure milk butter. Ghee is much creamier than clarified butter and also offers a higher smoke point. But ghee and clarified butter both can be used as substitutes for each other. The nutritional value of them is almost the same. Organic ghee is the best ghee variety that you can have in your regular diet. The difference between clarified butter vs ghee is not that a vital factor when you are having grass-fed quality ghee or clarified butter in the diet.
