1. Learn to listen to the new biological tempo in your body and make adjustments
In the past, growing older did not mean to make you plumber. Calorie burning revolves around a very simple equation – the body must be able burn what it consumed or else it finds a place to stick. It is much easier to gain weight – a daily consumption of 100 additional calories will result into between 9 and 10 extra pounds of body weight over a year, research has revealed.  You must also understand that at 40 our bodies begin to be less active so it is good to balance your calorie intake and how to get rid of it.

2. Get rid of your current metabolic problems

Julie Taw, MD from Englewood, New Jersey, an internist recommends eating regularly but small quantities during each meal. Adapting to this diet plan helps to regulate your blood sugar and hence keeping you full throughout the day.

4. Set your eating schedule to gain the most out of the natural rhythms of the body
According to experts eating supper or dinner after 8 pm results into fat deposits in the stomach and hips. On the contrary, whatever we consume for breakfast, during the time which our metabolic rates are revving high, the chances are that it will be utilized properly. According to the findings of a survey done by the National Weight Control Registry on people who recorded a constant 30-pound loss of their weight in a period between 1 and 6 years, 78% of them were reported to be eating breakfast daily, while 90% ate breakfast 5 or more days per week

5. Enhance your metabolism consuming fat-fighting meals
Losing weight doesn’t only take into account what we consume but what amount of which type of food. Although there are various healthy foods out there, this does not mean stocking each one of them. What you need is to try to incorporate foods that can help the body to burn fat and not the ones that induce it. The next thing is to ensure moderate consumption of the same and you will be moving on well.

6. Incorporate your muscles in your weight loss plan
Experts say that having more muscle mass enhances metabolism. This is proven right. However, you must also understand that aging is characterized by a reduction in muscle mass and in its place fat is deposited. Thus to maintain your muscle mass, you will, therefore, need to do some physical exercise and strength training provides the best opportunity for this course.

7. In order to expend more calories, sleep sufficiently
At the age of 40 and above, sleep becomes very elusive. This does not happen solely because we are stressed up or busier, but also due to the many physical problems such as night sweats, back pains and snoring. All these can affect your sleep during the night. Sufficient sleep is key to losing weight and the lack of, according to a recent research enhances weight gain which is attributed to ghrelin and leptin hormonal activities, which are closely associated with satiety and hunger. Thus, sleep helps top regulate metabolism; hence, weight loss.

8. Correlate healthily with your love for sweets
If you like sweets, don’t deny yourself – go for it and enjoy every bit of it so that your brain is also satiated. Experts suggest that before putting it into your mouth, cut it into two and keep one-half for another time. That means if you consume the first piece slowly and with all your conscience, you might not need to chew the other piece since you will be feeling ok.

9. Instead of dieting, emphasize on your fuel to energy ratio
Remember that at 40, the amount of weight you are putting on is huge. Well, you may have considered dieting but fallen short of ideas on how to go about it. One important point to note here is making drastic changes to your diet plan may not result in long-term weight loss solution. For instance, just because you came to realize that your favourite brand of soda is the cause of your heavy weight, deciding to ditch it without replacing it with healthy weight loss drinks could still be a challenge in your struggle to lose weight. Gradually adjusting your diet is vital for long term results.
