Ways to approach Divorce – Collaborative Family Practice (CFP)

by Sherilyn Jar Law Firm

What is CFP?

CFP is a new dispute resolution process which is used to deal with divorces cases. It is a legal process whereby couples who have decided to separate or end their marriage, can avoid the lengthy and costly process of a contested divorce through negotiation. Most Divorce Lawyers will have experiences in the field of mediation and can help to assist parties undergoing divorce on this issue.

What do I need to know about CFP?

The goal of CFP is to help couples work successfully within the Collaborative Law structure to achieve a positive outcome for both parties whilst trying to avoid the social, emotional and economic strain a traditional divorce can have.

What are the issues CFP can address?

CFP can be used to address all of the issues addressed under the traditional divorce process such as:

-Child custody care and control, child access.

-Spousal and child maintenance

-Division of matrimonial assets

-Taxes

-Insurance

CFP is a process whereby each party engages their own Singapore Dispute resolution center-accredited lawyers who work together towards achieving amicable result for their clients. Ms Gloria James is amongst the first batch of lawyers in Singapore to receive such accreditation. The lawyers act to facilitate the negotiation between the spouses, giving couples greater control over the entire process and, more importantly, over their decisions.

At Gloria James-Civetta & Co, we offer a free 2o-minute consultation with one of our lawyers, who will explain the divorce process and assess whether you meet the requirements to file for divorce in Singapore. Kindly contact us on 63370469 or email us
