Watch Your Step: McDonald’s Recent Slip and Fall Troubles

by Fusion 360 Studios Digital Marketing Specialists

With three McDonald’s franchises servicing a population of only 21,599 people, it’s safe to say that Farmington, Utah residents really like their Big Macs.

When the McDonald’s craving hits, the people of Farmington may want to stick to the drive-thru, though. Multiple slip and fall lawsuits against the fast-food chain have cropped up around the country, claiming negligence led to injury in all three cases.

Loss of Consortium

Cynthia and William Warner contacted a lawyer after Cynthia suffered from a slip and fall accident at a McDonald’s on July 28, 2014. Per the Madison County Record, the Warners filed a suit against Garjo, Inc., the company that holds owns and operates at that location.

The lawsuit, filed by the Warner’s lawyer, claims Cynthia’s alleged fall was caused by a slippery floor and resulted in injury. The suit cites negligence, inviting the public to use an unsafe location and the establishment’s failure to warn patrons about dangerous conditions.

The Warners have asked for more than $100,000 in damages: $50,000, plus costs, for Cynthia for pain and suffering and medical costs, and another whopping $500,000, plus costs, for William’s loss of consortium.

Loss of Enjoyment of Life

The Louisiana Record reported another slip and fall lawsuit against the burger chain. Ronald Gremillion’s lawyer filed a suit after his client slipped and fell on an unknown substance in June of 2014. The suit asserts McDonald’s negligence caused Gremillion severe injury.

The restaurant is accused of failing to maintain a safe and clean environment and failing to act in a prudent and reasonable manner. The lawsuit does not specify how much in damages Gremillion is seeking for his pain and suffering, mental anguish and loss of enjoyment of life.

The next time you’re at a McDonalds, whether in Farmington or out on the East Coast, beware: the floors might be slippery.
