Did a few firsts on a new Win10 laptop with SSD
- Installed VMware Workstation Player – that’s a first, never played with VMs before
- Installed Windows 7 Professional in a virtual machine – never done that before either
- Installed IE 9 on the same machine – OK, that’s easy
- Installed VIDA on the same machine – fun, quicker than I expected
I connected the Dice tool to my XC90 and read out these error codes, none of which were frequent enough to cause any error messages in the DIM:
CEM-1F00 ECM, Software Faulty signal
CEM-5F39 Flame sensor flame interruption
ECM-2B00 Exhaust temperature – faulty signal
ECM-3543 Misfire cylinder 4 – Emission agitation
PSM-002B Operating button Too long time
REM-6A01 Central lock motor Signal too high
REM-6A02 Central lock motor Signal too high
CCM-0040 Air quality sensor Internal fault
CEM-1A52 Communication with DDM control module Signal missing
CEM-4F47 Camera module, left Internal fault
CEM-4F48 Camera module, right Internal fault
ECM-7700 Engine control module (ECM) – Incorrect check sum
Here’s my diagnosis:
I have been playing with the car recently and battery went low a few times, so these ones I attribute to low voltage: (and I removed the fuses for the DDM and PDM to reset the windows)
PSM-002B Operating button Too long time
CEM-4F47 Camera module, left Internal fault
CEM-4F48 Camera module, right Internal fault
REM-6A01 Central lock motor Signal too high
REM-6A02 Central lock motor Signal too high
CEM-1A52 Communication with DDM control module Signal missing
I have a chip tune, so I attribute these to the tune, or maybe low voltage:
CEM-1F00 ECM, Software Faulty signal
ECM-7700 Engine control module (ECM) – Incorrect check sum
My aux fuel burning heater hasn’t been used since last winter, must have had a flame out once:
CEM-5F39 Flame sensor flame interruption
These occurred once only in the last few hundred cycles, to monitor only:
ECM-2B00 Exhaust temperature – faulty signal
ECM-3543 Misfire cylinder 4 – Emission agitation
Although it makes me potentially want to clean the exhaust temp sensor connector
CCM-0040 Air quality sensor Internal fault
That’s the temp sensor. The AQS is in the air inlet under the windscreen scuttle. Remove the LH windscreen wiper, all the plastic rivets fastening the scuttle (they are re-useable) then slide the scuttle out of the way.
The CCM-0040 Air quality sensor Internal fault can cause the LIN network to go down which will affect the heating/air controls and LH seat heater. Just remove it to get the LIN back and use the recurculation manually. Replace it with a Hella part (1/2 the price of the OEM).
Did a half-hour drive today, checked the DTCs: have DTCs set in ECM and CEM.
I connected VIDA and checked the codes. No more AQS error, great.Was very interesting to play with the VIDA software. It certainly takes some getting used to, and is not the easiest to navigate.
I was I must say some what disappointed at the amount of diagnostics of some modules.
PAC: none!
Radio: not much (but I could test my two antennas, which was good)
RSE: nothing (but now I know how to wire a TV tuner into it…)
I fired up some of the pumps in my aux fuel burning heater to exercise it a bit before winter. I think I will order the programmable parking heater software at the friendly dealer soon.
Was fun!
Btw, VIDA cannot be used to program as well….

VIDA is designed for workshop mechanics to use
If you consider your IT skills to be on a par or better than an average workshop mechanic, then you will have no problems operating VIDA.
Installing is slightly different: you must ensure your PC or VM fulfills the requirements, then installation is easy. The requirements are Win7 Professional, which I installed on a Virtual Machine on a Win10 laptop

My D5 diesel XC90 had the Combustion Preheater (fuel burning heater) fitted in the factory.
Almost all diesel XC90s destined for cold countries (like where I live) have the Combustion Preheater fitted as standard.
