VIVIFI: Here's What You Need To Know About This New MVNO

by JC A. Marketing Assistant

The rise of mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) had reportedly shaken the big telecommunication companies in Singapore. Experts said that the change in consumer trends and the available low-priced plans have allowed MVNOs to secure a sure spot in the industry.

But what’s an MVNO by the way? It’s a service provider that doesn’t have its infrastructure line and leases network services from a local network provider. It then sets retail prices and packages accordingly under its brand.

For a certain time, the Lion City has only five MVNOs, whose leaner cost structures and digital retail model have made them gain market share from the bigger players. Today, the competition heightens as three new entries flood the market, wherein VIVIFI is one.

The fast-growing Singaporean MVNO sector has witnessed the launch of VIVIFI on July 24, 2019. This newcomer offers a ‘non-contract shareable mobile plan’, which aims to help users save more money.

Before we dig deep into the reasons why VIVIFI is a worthy addition to the block, let us first take a closer look at this new MVNO player.

More About This Newest MVNO

The company was founded by Terence Yow, the man behind Enviably Me Pte Ltd, an exclusive distributor of Melissa shoes in Singapore and Malaysia. Yow realised that Singapore and the world are in the midst of the biggest technology revolution, so he went on creating VIVIFI.

Through VIVIFI, residents in the country can make the most out of the many amazing technological innovations ahead. “5G and IoT are just two great examples in the near term. The brand will continue to launch very exciting and new-to-market products and experiences,” said Terence Yow.

“We’re here to Vivifi our customers. With us, our customers have an opportunity to unify their family with just one mobile plan. Vivifi your life and enjoy to the fullest by sharing,” added Dr. Lim Teck Meng, CEO of VIVIFI.

To make its launch a success, the MVNO commissioned JCDecaux Singapore, the country’s number one out-of-home advertising company. JCDecaux presented an Augmented Reality (AR) campaign on its digital bus shelter advertising network.

From July 24 to July 30, customers interact with four imaginary AR scenes displayed on a panel along the prime stretch of Orchard Road. The scenes that have caught commuters’ attention are the following: a parachutist descending near the bus stop, a lion emerging from the bush, a dinosaur storming past, and butterflies that form the VIVIFI logo.

3 Reasons to Choose VIVIFI

Shareable Plan

Some things are better when shared: a seat, pizza, rides, music, tents, secrets, and of course—a Netflix plan. Just when you thought a Netflix plan is the most awesome thing to be shared, mobile data plan can now be shared too.

VIVIFI offers a shareable mobile plan for Singapore nationals and the people living there. This base plan is called VIVIFI Share; it starts at $29.90 and comes with 20GB, 300 mins of talk time, as well as 100 SMS.

The main plan also comes together with VIVIFI Me, the first mobile line. It can be shared up to 8 more mobile lines (VIVIFI Us) at a current promotional price of $5.35.

With the shared data pool, users don’t only save some bucks but also obtains a family-sized connection like no other. It allows users to unify their family while maximizing the data, SMS, and talk time included in their mobile plan.

Contract-Free Plan

Besides the option to share with family members, VIVIFI has also made its mobile data plan contract-free. The Singaporean mobile virtual network operator allows users to share mobile data without a monthly commitment.

It’s the first MVNO in Singapore to provide affordable tiered rates to customers who exceed their data, talk time or SMS limit. If users exceed 20GB data a month, they can top up at additional cost, starting at $10 for an additional 6GB of data.

The greatest part about this is that users aren’t locked into a minimum contract period. Users only pay for what they use and don’t get tied up with the plan’s top-up commitments.

Simply put, VIVIFI customers can enjoy a sharable mobile plan with no lock-up, data cap, and strings attached.

International Promos

Mobile plans aren’t supposed to be designed for local use only. It’s ideal for a mobile plan to offer international calls and texts so that users who travel internationally can still connect with their loved ones.

Thankfully, VIVIFI offers data, SMS, and voice roaming packages through VIVIFI Go. This service lets users roam the world worry-free. It enables users to connect their mobile devices to the internet, make calls and send SMS wherever they are.

VIVIFI also provides a way to communicate overseas. With VIVIFI Connect, users can call over 240 destinations across the globe. They can choose between two IDD call rates: IDD 001 and IDD 019.

The former has standard and economy rates while the latter has a flat or whole day rate. Each IDD call is also rated and charged according to the call duration and the destination country.

Summing It Up!

There’s no doubt that the MVNO industry in Singapore is growing steadily. A lot of service providers are coming out with varying customer perks and offers; including VIVIFI.

VIVIFI's unique selling point of one mobile plan for the entire family sets it apart from the rest. Users can tag other people along into the plan, plus, the sharing continues without a monthly commitment.
