by Daisy Wilkinson Travel Guides

Nicknamed 'The Capital of the World' and 'The Big Apple', New York City is one of the renowned cities in the United States of America (USA) visited by plenty of tourists from various parts of the world. Today, it is considered as the cultural and financial capital of the world. It is home to many individuals who were born in different countries outside the USA and have now made this city their home. The city was founded by the Dutch colonists as a trading post in the 17th century. Over the years, it has grown considerably and many people belonging to different nationalities and ethnic backgrounds have made it their home.

You can save a considerable amount while booking your cheap flights to New York and use the savings to visit the most popular attractions in the city. One of them is the Statue of Liberty. This statue is admired by almost all the tourists who visit the city from different corners of the globe annually. It was a gift of France to America and was constructed in the late 19th century. You can take a boat trip to Liberty Island to get closer to the statue. If you wish to get inside the statue, it is recommended that you purchase the ticket for it in advance.

Central Park is yet another gorgeous place you can visit during your time spent in this American city. It would also be one of the best ways to escape the hustle-bustle of the city's crowds. While you are in this vast public park, you can unwind amidst pleasant natural surroundings, take a stroll, go on one of the carriage rides, or cycle through the crisscrossed pathways. If you're visiting the city during your winter holidays, you can try your skills in skating on the Wollman Rink. It gives residents as well as tourists the chance to take some time off from their busy schedules to relax and have some fun while being surrounded by nature.

One of the attractions you must never miss during your winter holidays in New York City is the Rockefeller Center. It is located right in the middle of Manhattan. One of its major attractions is Rockefeller Plaza, which is a tall building constructed in the Art Deco style of architecture. You can visit the observation deck in this building called 'Top of the Rock' to savour some marvellous views of the surroundings.

This city would be a delight for you if you're an art lover, as you can visit many museums that feature some of the best collections of art. You can visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which was founded in the late 19th century and is fondly called 'The Met'. It houses more than 2 million artworks spanning 5,000 years of history. The museum conducts an 'Empty Met Tour' in the morning before it is opened to the general visitors, which would be a great opportunity for you to get some respite from crowds of visitors coming to the museum later in the day.
