Visit Globally Renowned Attractions During New York Holidays

by Amanda Sutcliffe Travel Deals

New York City is a place where hundreds of languages are spoken and is home to a linguistically and ethnically diverse population. It is also a place where you'll find plenty of attractions worth exploring. Also called New York, the city is often considered the cultural and financial capital of the world as it influences almost all the countries on the planet when it comes to commerce, technology, research, politics, entertainment, education, fashion, arts, and sports. Besides visiting many of its architectural marvels, you'll also have the chance to enjoy some fabulous dining and shopping experiences while getting around in this American city.

Don't miss the Statue of Liberty when you go sightseeing during your New York holidays. This world-famous monument was a gift of France to the United States of America (USA). It is one of the greatest icons of this country and a symbol of freedom. You can get excellent views of this statue from Battery Park, which is located in the southern part of Manhattan. However, the most popular way of seeing this magnificent statue is to see it close by taking a boat trip to Liberty Island. Upon making your reservation in advance, you'll also get the chance to visit the crown of this statue.

Another interesting place to be in is the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which is popularly known as 'The Met'. It was founded in the late 19th century and is among the well-known museums in the USA today. There are three sites of this museum. However the most significant among them is the one located on 5th Avenue. The permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art contains over 2 million works of art covering 5,000 years. The collection includes Egyptian art, American decorative arts, costumes, arms and armour, and musical instruments.

Empire State Building is also an interesting place to visit as it was the world's tallest building when it opened in 1931. This 102-storey building has two observatories, from where you can enjoy awe-inspiring views of the surroundings. One of them is located on the 86th floor at a height of over 1,000 feet. It is New York City's highest open-air observation deck and has featured in many movies and television shows. The topmost deck is located on the 102nd Floor at a height of 1,250 feet. You can avoid the long queues to the observation deck by purchasing a ticket in advance that allows you to bypass the lines.

If you wish to take a break from your sightseeing schedules and the hustle-bustle of crowds, head to Central Park. This is a wonderful place to unwind amidst beautiful natural surroundings and has many attractions for visitors within its boundaries. While in this park, you can walk, enjoy a carriage ride, or ride a bicycle on its pathways. If you're visiting during the winter season, you can try skating across Wollman Rink located in the park. The best aspect about the attractions of Central Park is that most of them are free for all visitors.
