Virtual Speech of Ivanka in Kansas cancelled amidst the protests

of United States Mr.Donald Trump was supposed to give a virtual speech to the
students of Kansas. The management of Wichita State University and WSU Tech has
jointly announced that her speech has been cancelled. The cancellation of the
event has made Ivanka very angry. As a response to it, she commented on a
social media platform. She said that educational institutions shall
encourage freedom of speech. She also pointed out that it is unethical to
distinguish between culture and viewpoint.
The event was mainly cancelled due to
the negativity of the way Mr.Trump handled the situation of the protests that
is going on in the country. The protests are due to the unbearable act of the
police that led to the death of George Floyd as per Government
news update. Protestors have come
out in a large number all over the country and there has been no word from the
governing officials against racism and out of behavior act of the police and
its department.
George Floyd was an African American who
was declared dead due to the negligence of white police officials. Videos of
his death have been going around over online platforms and social media
sites. During his arrest when Floyd physically reacted for not knowing the
reason of his arrest. Derek Chauvin a white police official kneeled over in their neck while Floyd gasped for his breath. Since then, there have been wide
protests all over the country. People are demanding justice against the brutalism
and racism of the polish officials. Although all the four officials involved in
Floyd’s death have been taken into custody, a huge number of protesters has also
been arrested.
The protesters have been attacked with
tear gas, grenades, abuses some were also shot at sight. The government officials
under the presidency of Trump have supported the act of police and have not
taken any action against them. And this has not been accepted by the people of
America. Mr. Trump also commented that he would in fact increase the support
towards the law enforcement officers and government and politics rather
than dismantling the police department.
Due to these incidences and the support of
Ivanka on her father’s decision has led to the cancellation of speech at the
university. Around 488 signatures have been collected from alumni, teachers, and
students. A letter was posted on social media sites where a professor has
urged to cancel the speech of Ivanka Trump due to the unrest in the country.
Ivanka Trump presently serves as an
advisor to her President's father along with her husband. Before this, she was
the executive vice president of their family business called the Trump
Organization.
