Various Forms of Abrasive Sand Blasting

by Boucher Mark industrial equipment

Do you know about sandblasting process? It is generally an essential process in which a medium is used to smoothen out or polish a rough surface.  This is a perfect way by which you can give a smooth and different shape to any surface such as glass, metal, concrete or stone. In a world full of machinery and metal parts, rust and corrosion are a common plague. Thankfully, Sandblasting in Vietnam is a fast as well as effective solution to getting these metal parts functioning and looking their optimum best. This process can also be used to prepare surfaces that require repainting.

As its name implies, abrasive blasting is a process whereby an abrasive material is suitable to blast through a surface in propose to make it smooth or eliminate impurities. A lot of pressure is used to push out the grit as well as cause the blast to happen. The pressure used generally proves how fast the process will be and the quality of results.

The term sandblasting was frequently used in the past because sand was the only grit/medium utilized, as trends in the metal fabrication industry continued to enhance other types of grits started being used. Regularly the type of medium used in abrasive blasting will determine its type.

The different types of sandblasting ways are listed below:

Ø  Silica Sand or Silicon Dioxide

Silicon Dioxide is ordinary sand, which is also known as silica or quartz. Silica Sandblasting was a basically utilized method of removing impurities from surfaces. This is because sand particles are almost the same size as well as the edges of the particles are sharp, therefore making this type of grit resourceful in abrasive blasting. Though, this type of abrasive blasting is no longer a prevalent choice as there are other blast mediums that work better than sand, and also, silica can cause some types of respiratory diseases.

Ø  Soda

Soda sandblasting is done by using the baking soda or bicarbonate of soda. This is also a great grit and abrasive to remove rust from metals without causing damaging the metal under the rough surface. It is used on delicate materials that may be damaged by tougher abrasives.

Ø  Steel Grit

In this sandblasting process, steel grit is used as an abrasive in the removal of paint as well as rust from steel metals. Steel grit is often ideal because of its fast cutting nature.

Ø  Glass Bead

For a matte and satin finish glass bead sandblasting is best. This is because this grit has very fine materials that polish the surface of the object being sandblasted. This type of abrasive blasting is frequently utilized on cabinets.

Ø  Bristle Blasting

In this type of abrasive blasting, no separate medium is used. Rather, steel wire bristles are rotated on a surface. This rotating act helps in the removal of impurities, consequently leaving the surface smooth. This way is regularly used to clean metal surfaces with some form of corrosion.

If you are in doubt for selecting the suitable way for your project or you have already made your choice contact Sandblast supplier Vietnam to help you select an appropriate sandblasting method and get the process began.
